» Safe Routes to Schools Workshops

Idaho Smart Growth is pleased to offer two-day workshops on policy and practices that affect Safe Routes to School. A typical workshop will consist of:

  • A training for professionals; presentation will provide in-depth information on policy and practice about land use, particularly mixed use best practices and new information about school siting, and about ‘Complete Streets” as a transportation solution.
  • A public presentation providing an overview of the importance of mixed use in land use, school siting policy and ‘Complete Streets’ and how to effectively work with the appropriate agencies to affect changes in those areas.
  • Small meetings with interested Safe Routes Coalition members, public agencies and elected officials to assist in problem solving, or information gathering

 

In addition we will work with local community members to identify a specific local issue and develop an exercise to be presented as part of one or both presentations. This will

allow participants to put what they have learned into practice finding solutions for the stated problem and identifying any recommendations for changes in land use or transportation policy.  If you are interested in attending a session, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
