The Question:
The above picture shows a bicycle within a bike lane approaching a “T” intersection. The bicycle has the red light. If within a bike lane is the person on the bicycle still required to come to a completed stop at the red light before proceeding through the intersection?
The Answer: YES
Yes, you are still required to come to a complete stop before cautiously proceeding through the intersection. A bike lane is part of the roadway. The laws that apply to bicyclists while traveling in traffic lanes apply to bicyclists traveling in bike lanes (unless the vehicle code or a traffic control device states otherwise).
