Program Description:
Idaho Smart Growth is a statewide, independent nonprofit aiming to bring people together to create great places to live. Since 2000, ISG has collaborated with partners throughout the Gem State to preserve and enhance quality of life, offering a range of programs to help make communities more attractive, economically stronger, and safer for everyone. Our headquarters is in downtown Boise, conveniently near some of the best restaurants, entertainment, and access to outdoor recreation in the state. Idaho has remained one of the fastest-growing states in the country, posing unique challenges and opportunities for housing affordability and economic opportunity. ISG promotes the smart growth principles that keep our communities vibrant and our lands healthy. And now, we are revitalizing our efforts into a new and exciting chapter to tackle our greatest challenges together.
We are seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA who is a skilled leader to work closely with ISG’s Executive Director and Board to shape our future. This position will lead the development of our next five-year strategic plan and help raise the funding and support to build ISG into a strong organization that can meet the ever-changing needs of our growing state.
In this position, you will network with leaders from both government and private sectors, and help reforge a strong statewide organization to shape our state’s future. This role offers a great deal of flexibility and support for personal and professional goals, tools for continuing education, and a “human-first” approach to work/life balance.
The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, creativity, an eye for detail, ability to work with people from all walks of life, fundraising experience, and an enthusiasm to develop new skills as we grow this effort together. Knowledge of smart growth is beneficial, but not required. Support will be provided to develop these skills and more for the right candidate.
Member Duties:
The Development & Strategic Planning Coordinator VISTA will build capacity for ISG’s efforts to promote affordability, sustainability, and healthy communities across the state. Primary duties will include the development and implementation of our fundraising strategy, including membership engagement and development, donor cultivation and solicitation, marketing and branding efforts, and fundraising calendar buildout. As a part of these efforts, this position will lead the development of ISG’s next five-year strategic plan by conducting relevant research, collecting feedback from beneficiary populations, partner organizations, and other groups through surveys and interviews, creating draft proposals for presentation, and working closely with other staff to identify and operationalize smart growth strategies within high-needs communities.
VISTA member will record these deliverables using templates within our organization’s shared network, and will supplement presentations to the ISG Board, donor networks, and other groups as needed. The VISTA member will also assist in recording funds and membership in our donor management system.
