OneRail is a diverse coalition of rail interests that works to educate elected officials and the public about the benefits of a strong freight and passenger rail system. Railroads are a critical element of our national transportation system. OneRail supports policies that expand passenger train options, critical freight rail network capacity, and intermodal connectivity in our national transportation system to maximize transportation options for all Americans.

Anne P. Canby has extensive experience in the transportation industry, having served as Secretary/Commissioner for DE & NJ state transportation departments, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and Treasurer of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). She currently leads OneRail, a coalition of freight and passenger rail interests seeking to expand the role of rail in the nation’s transportation system. Previously, she led the Surface Transportation Policy Project (STPP).
Her work has focused on policy, program, budget, and management issues as well as coalition building and advocacy for a balanced transportation system. In addition to her agency work, she has undertaken consulting assignments for numerous transportation agencies. She has served as a member of the executive committee or board of numerous transportation organizations, including the Transportation Research Board, AASHTO, and NASTO. She is currently serves on the Board of the Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State University. She is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Carey Distinguished Service Award from the Transportation Research Board.
