Join Idaho Smart Growth on Monday, June 15th for the third of the new “Smart Pandemic Pivots” series.
Topic: Healing the rift between science and policy
It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed by the news these days. Disruption of life as we’ve known it affords opportunities for healing the rift between science and policy, and Smart Growth is part of the answer.
Idaho Smart Growth board member, Nancy Chaney, will present.
About our Speaker:
Nancy Chaney has lived in Idaho since 1969. She moved from Boise to Moscow “for a couple of years” in 1980, and has made it her home since. She holds degrees in nursing and psychology from Boise State University and a master’s in environmental science from the University of Idaho. She honed policy skills during two terms as mayor of Moscow, with associated state, national, and international leadership roles.
Nancy volunteers for various organizations, including the Lewis-Clark Valley Healthcare Foundation, Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, and the One Health Advisory Board, integrating human, animal, and environmental health. In 2015, she was honored with the Charles Hummel Award from Idaho Smart Growth. Nancy and her husband operate a small veterinary ophthalmology business, based in Moscow.

About the Series:
As the United States begins to recover from the COVID-19 health emergency our communities are asking themselves what we have learned in the past few months. Our air is cleaner, so is our water, the slower pace of life is refreshing. This has unleashed a desire to look at the future not just as more of the past but as a new beginning. One that reflects the lessons of the past few months and rebuilds our communities as they reopen into better places.
This new lunchtime series will explore that desire and offer a chance for discovery and discussion.
