History of Planning and the creation and role of LLUPA

Join us March 3rd as we kick off our 2021 series. This year’s theme is Tools for Good Growth with each session covering a particular regulatory tool used in planning to help attendees learn ways to achieve the growth they want in their community. We will kick things off with an overview of the history of planning and dive into the tool of LLUPA. Join us!

About our Presenter:
Robert Liberty has 40 years of experience with the adoption, implementation and evaluation of land use and transportation plans at the local, regional, state and national levels.
He began his career as a staff attorney and then Director of 1000 Friends of Oregon. In the 1990s he was active in the National Growth Management Leadership Alliance, which included Idaho Smart Growth and other groups across the country.
Robert knows Idaho. A decade ago he provided advice to Idaho Smart Growth and the Idaho Chapter of the American Planning Association. He has been to Idaho many times, including backpacking in the Sawtooth and White Cloud Mountains. His most recent visit was last fall when he traveled across the panhandle , stopping in Coeur d’Alene where his father was born – and then on this return stopping in cities across the Snake Valley from West Yellowstone to Caldwell.
